Song analysis #2

I was asked about the use of the word “vindicated”, which reminded me of the song Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional (which I really liked at one point in time because I was in love with the Spiderman movie and by association, its OST), and hearing the song again reminded me of how disillusioned I was by finding out that the lyrics weren’t what I thought they were.

This is the bridge part of the song:

So turn
Up the corners of your lips
Part them and feel my finger tips
Trace the moment, fall forever

When I heard the song, I thought it was “so tired of the corners of your lips”. I think it would have added a lot more dimension to the song. It would imply that the guy has been trying to kiss the chick, but she keeps turning away, so all he gets are the corners of her lips. It would further reinforce the feeling of vindication, that her initial hesitance was unjustified, that he kept trying to prove something but she refused to see it.

Unfortunately, the actual lyrics are "so turn up the corners of your lips". Disappointing, once again.
