Winter makes us feel terrible.

I just had this revolutionary thought! It's winter now, and it's cold.

Coldness leads to shivering.
Nervousness leads to trembling.
Broken, choked crying leads to sobbing.

Shivering, trembling, and sobbing all are different names for the same involuntary vibratory muscular movement.

Given that our physical state can alter our mental state (e.g. smiling makes you feel better), is it any wonder that people feel like shit during winter? Our physical reaction from the cold is associated with all these other nasty feelings, and surely it alters our mood.

Apparently it is a myth that suicide rates peak during the holidays, though. I feel so cheated.
